Toxicity: 

These plants are toxic to pets

 

Temperature: 

Prefers temperatures between 70-80°F, need to be kept above 55°F.

Light Requirements:

Bright indirect sun or filtered sunlight

Watering Requirements:

Water approximately once per week (may need to increase/decrease depending on weather)

Let the top few inches of soil dry before watering. 

Keep in well draining soil.

Fertilizing:

Philos can be fertilized once a month during the growing season (spring and summer), and every two months in the winter/fall.

Use a 20:20:20 NPK fertilizer

Pothos

Jade, Marble, Neon, N’Joy, Snow Queen, Silver Splash

Toxicity:

Pothos are toxic to pets

Temperature: 

These plants need to be kept between 70-90°F. 

Light Requirements:

Pothos enjoy full sun to partial shade

 

Watering Requirements:

Pothos like to have moist but well draining soil. 

Water when the top few inches of soil are dry.

 

Fertilizing:

These plants don’t necessarily need fertilizing; however they can be fertilized every three months to allow them to grow faster. 

Cacti/Succulents

 

Toxicity: 

This varies by succulent/cactus species, caution should be used with every type.

 

Temperature: 

Most do well in temperatures ranging from 40-80°F

Light Requirements:

Most enjoy bright sun, but can tolerate lower light (they become “leggy” in lower light)

Watering Requirements:

Water when soil is dried out completely or when leaves become slightly wrinkled.

Fertilizing:

Can use all-purpose fertilizer (10-10-10) diluted to 25% strength

 

Sansevieria

Moonshine, Bantel Sensation, Gold Hahnii, Black Dragon, Black Star, Whale Fin

Toxicity: 

Mildly toxic to pets and humans

 

Temperature: 

Enjoys temperatures around 60-75°F, but do well with fluctuation, as long as it is kept out of extreme cold.

Light Requirements:

These can basically be in any light conditions that exist. 

Be sure to adapt the plant if moved from bright light to shade and vice versa.

Watering Requirements:

Requires very little watering – let soil dry out completely between watering’s.

Fertilizing:

Use 10-10-10 fertilizer diluted to 50% during growing season (spring-summer), though fertilization is not required as these are very slow growing plants.

Crocodile Fern

 

Toxicity: 

Non toxic to pets

 

Temperature: 

Should be kept in areas between 60-80°F

Light Requirements:

Bright light/morning sun

Does not like direct sunlight

Watering Requirements:

They like to be kept moist, but needs well draining soil

Should be watered when the top layer of soil feels slightly dry.

Fertilizing:

Can be fertilized with diluted fertilizer once a month during growing season.

Lithops

 

Toxicity: 

Non toxic to humans and pets

 

Temperature: 

Don’t let the temperature fall below 50°F, but Lithops can tolerate any temperature up to 90°F

Light Requirements:

These plants enjoy direct morning sun, and partial shade during the warmer afternoons.

Watering Requirements:

Water only from spring to summer.

Keep watering’s very light and far apart (about every two weeks)

Fertilizing:

It is not necessary to water these succulents, though, giving it a small dose of a high potassium, low nitrogen fertilizer right before flowering season, can encourage blooming.

Split Rocks

 

Toxicity: 

Non toxic to humans and pets

 

Temperature: 

These prefer warmer temperatures, but also don’t tolerate extreme heat.

Keep in temperatures around 60-80°F

Light Requirements:

Keep in bright, full sun

They can tolerate partial shade, but will not grow as well.

Watering Requirements:

Allow soil to dry out completely between watering’s. 

Water even less in the winter months.

Fertilizing:

These plants use their old leaves as a natural fertilizer so fertilizing by hand is not necessary. 

Peperomia

 

Toxicity: 

Non toxic to humans and pets

 

Temperature: 

Need to be kept in environments above 55°, enjoys temperatures closer to 70-80°F.

Light Requirements:

Bright, indirect light is best for these plants.

Watering Requirements:

Allow soil to dry out between each watering – they prefer to be forgotten about from time to time.

Fertilizing:

Use balanced, all purpose fertilizer once a month during growing season.
